About Daisy's Desserts
Hi my name is Wendy McGhee, and my staff and I would love to make something sweet for you! I was born and raised in Rutledge, Alabama, and grew up watching my mom and other family members bake, but I never thought I would find my passion in the kitchen.
All the women and many of the men in my family know how to work magic in the kitchen. I attribute much of my success to the baking secrets I learned from my mother (Daisy), grandmother, aunts, sisters and cousins. In my hometown “McGhee” means good times, great food and even better desserts. After college I entered the workforce as a software engineer and went on to start my own software consulting company, but I found myself baking for friends and colleagues and loving every minute of it!
I read an article in Black Enterprise magazine about Warren Brown a lawyer turned baker and I realized what I wanted to do wasn't so crazy. I signed up for classes at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, studying with acclaimed cake designer Toba Garrett. After training I officially started Daisy's Desserts and I have not looked back since. I'm having the time of my life in the kitchen! So give me a call, I'm in my kitchen waiting for your order. Everything I’ve tasted from Daisy’s Desserts is absolutely delicious but my very favorite dessert is the Keylime Cake!

We wanted something unique for a farewell party and working in the bedding industry decided on a cake in the shape of a mattress. The design was an exact replica of a mattress even down to the pattern design! The cake was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Daisy’s Desserts!!
